Are you allowed to sell t-shirts with names on ie band names, tv show names?

I am aware you aren't allowed to copy an artists trademarked image or name but what about if they are displayed in normal text ie linkin park rocks or i love supernatural something like that. I've made t-shirts for friends before in rhinestones and hotfix and they are very popular but is it illegal to sell them online for profit because of their ociation with the band/show?
